Natalie M. Pomorski

Natalie M. Pomorski, nee Jerawski, longtime resident of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge Community, late of Mokena, IL, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 with her children at her side. Natalie graduated from DePaul University, Chicago, IL, in 1955, where she met her late husband, Robert Pomorski. They were married for 62 years until his death in 2018. She was the loving Mother of Michelle (Jim) Martin, Barbara (Steve) Kolczewski, Catherine (Joseph) Kosek, Robert (Lisa) Pomorski and the late Alison Pomorski. Proud Grandmother of Ryan (Stephanie) Martin, Lauren Martin (Mitch Parker), Kenneth (Beth) Adair, Alton, Claire and Alison Kosek, Emily and Nathan Pomorski, and Great Grandmother to Patrick, Marleigh and Ethan. Dear Sister of the late Leonore Bannes and the late Alexander Conrad Jerawski. She will be remembered by her nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces, many cousins, her church community, library friends, and long-time close personal friends. Natalie was an educator, and an inspirational leader who was deeply devoted to her St. Joseph Church community. She was a founding member of St. Joseph Mothers Club, was a teacher and instrumental in starting a Physical Education program at the grammar school, was a three term President of St. Joseph Ladies of the Rosary, and also held every office in the organization. She was very involved in making a grand success of the parish’s 100th year Anniversary Celebration, and was a Recipient of the Chicago Archdiocese Woman of the Year Award. She sang in several Church choirs, in the Resurrection choir for funerals, and for the Pope in Rome. Continuing her passion for volunteering, she became a member of the Argo Summit Bedford Park Ladies Club. After moving from Chicago to Mokena, her community service and leadership continued as a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Choir and President of The Friends of the Library of Mokena. In addition to her volunteer work, Natalie worked until retirement as an office manager at Lake River Terminals. Natalie was admired for her intelligence, generosity, dedication, style, adventurous spirit, and leadership. Most people didn’t get to appreciate her comic wit, because her husband Bob always tried to steal the show. Natalie remained humble and thoughtful to others to the end. Visitation is Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 West Archer Ave. (55th street just west of Harlem). Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 8:30 AM until time of Prayers at 9:30 AM. We will go in procession from the funeral home to St. Joseph Church for a 10 AM mass. Natalie will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery with her husband and daughter.
