Deanna R. Ryan

We celebrate the life of Deanna R. Ryan who passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025 with her loving family at her side. Deanna grew up in Central City, Kentucky, and moved to Chicago after graduating from high school. She met the love of her life, John T. Ryan, in the Windy City. They were married for nearly 50 years, when he died in 2020. Deanna worked at Central Steel and Wire Company, and after a few years found her true calling as a realtor in Chicago’s Garfield Ridge community. She was an accomplished agent with a career spanning more than 30 years with offices such as O’Brien Realty, Remax, and Access Realtors. Deanna was an effervescent person whose beautiful smile was equally matched by her kind heart. She had a magnetic personality, and never met a stranger. Exceptionally generous and giving, Deanna had a unique way of making everyone feel special. Loving and devoted mother of Jennifer Ryan (James Keller) and Michelle Ryan-Corry (Sean Corry). Doting and proud grandmother of two adoring grandsons, John and Patrick. Dear Sister of eleven siblings, including the late Justine (late Charles) Skaggs, Barbara (late Philip) Veitch, Vonda (Donnie) Webster, Debra (late Larry McRoy and late Dave Koenig), Kathy (David) Craig and the late Joe Jones (late Sue), late Wendell Jones and late Mildred Jones. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered dearly for her welcoming smile, infectious energy, exceptional generosity, and outstanding kindness. Spirited and outgoing, her genuine selflessness and philosophy that, “Every day is a great and beautiful day!” will forever remain with all who loved her. Deanna was an active member of St. Rita of Casia and St. Daniel the Prophet parishes where her children attended school. At St. Rita, she was past president of the Mothers’ Club, Brownie Troop Leader, and Cheerleading Moderator. When the family moved to Garfield Ridge, she and John were very active members at St. Daniel the Prophet Church, volunteering for all the parish functions and most recently volunteering her time and energy at St. John of the Cross Church. She also enjoyed being a member of the Centralights Retiree group from Central Steel and Wire, where she was a past President. Visitation is Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 4:30 PM until 9 PM at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Avenue (55th street just west of Harlem). Visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 8:30 AM until time of Prayers at 9:30 AM. We will go in procession from the funeral home to St. Daniel the Prophet Church for a 10 AM Mass of Christian burial. Deanna will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at St. Mary Cemetery.
